Paralegal – Due Diligence

London/Hybrid

Contract until January 2025

£762.89 p/d Umbrella

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Paralegal.

Role Purpose:

Global Liquidity within in Group Treasury (GT) is leading the implementation of HSBC’s Collateral Capabilities. This programme of work is responsible for the implementation of a strategic collateral platform alongside regulatory commitments and is recruiting a Paralegal to drive one of the key workstreams. This is a visible and high priority programme at Group level and consists of several delivery pillars in accordance with the components of the strategy. It has short, medium, and long-term objectives to achieve a collateral management function, and success which will result in material benefits for Group Treasury and sites respectively. The programme is required to move at pace with multiple strands and competing prioritises and parallel deliveries on both a tactical and strategic basis.

• The successful candidate will be responsible gathering and reviewing of loan contracts, and preparing pools of contracts for review by a professional legal team. The Paralegal will work collaboratively with the Legal Due Diligence (Legal DD) Delivery Lead and the Data BA, ensuring implementation of the strategy is driven with the appropriate swiftness, structure, governance, and traceability. Delivery spans teams across Global Treasury, Legal, and regional stakeholder groups.

• The role holder should be able to submit recommendations to necessary stakeholders by way of legal process, protocols and escalation treatment.

• Undertake preliminary work ahead of full legal contract review. They will do this by working across several areas within HSBC collaborative to understand what work has already been carried out and recommend the correct portfolios to work on.

• Where necessary, facilitate AI-functionality discussions within internal teams and support work to incorporate Treasury requirements.

• We require significant experience in the legal structure of commercial and residential loan and mortgage documentation, and should have good knowledge of liquidity and funding, understand key liquidity measures as per the Group Framework (ILM, LCR, NSFR, PRA110, and other secondary monitoring metrics), Bank financial systems, related business areas, products and their strategic drivers.

• Support the respective detailed planning and delivery execution of the plan.

• They will functionally report to the Legal DD Delivery Lead.

Requirements:

Technical Skill Requirements

• Strong project management skills covering the whole project lifecycle from initiation to closure, including delivery in waterfall, agile and hybrid methodology

• The role holder will have good knowledge of Collateral Management within the context of liquidity and funding, understand key liquidity measures as per the Group Framework (ILM, LCR, NSFR, PRA110, and other secondary monitoring metrics), Bank financial systems, related business areas, products and their strategic drivers.

• Good understanding of the Treasury business and associated risks, with ability to translate complex concepts into programme artefacts

• Has sufficient knowledge to use Tableau

Educational Requirements

• Paralegal training and/or certification

• Strong stakeholder management skills

• Ability to present information in a professional manner, including preparing documents for review by C-level audiences

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to C-level audiences

• Personal ownership of target and resolution of issues

• Team player and able to manage conflict and conflicting priorities

• Ability to provide direction to more junior colleagues

Experience

• Banking experience

• Playbook drafting experience is essential.

• Experience delivering legal projects and therefore understand of the specific challenges that could be faced during delivery

• Experience in change management across a global organisation, including agile delivery frameworks.

• Experience in people management is highly preferable.

• Strong people management and communications skills, providing information to senior stakeholders effectively
