Senior Governance & Planning Manager   

London/ Hybrid

£700-830/ Day

9-12 Month Contract – Likely extensions

Our client HSBC are currently seeking an experienced Senior Governance & Planning Manager to join their team in the London office/remote working, this contract will be for 9-12 months with a review to be extended.

Strategic Procurement Services (SPS) forms part of HSBC Digital Business Services (DBS), and is a pivotal part of the Group, providing essential operational and technical support to our global businesses and helping improve customer service and efficiency. SPS works closely with our business partners across the Bank to ensure we get the best value for them from our suppliers and third parties and minimise any potential risks to the Bank.

We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Governance and Planning Manager to support the Head of Strategy & Planning with the management and performance of governance reporting and planning requirements across SPS.

In this role, you will:

·      Be responsible for collation and production of SPS governance reporting and report writing for internal and external requirements.

·      Be responsible for the timely communication of any SPS governance actions and ad hoc requests and robust tracking of actions to completion.

·      Support in the coordination of SPS ExCo meetings including agenda planning, materials production, meeting management and production of minutes.

·      Support the end-to-end SPS planning management processes to ensure appropriate governance.

·      Work alongside key stakeholders from SPS and DBS to deliver senior management objectives.

·      Provide ad hoc presentation support to SPS stakeholders to ensure consistent, quality output across the function.

·      Support the Head of Strategy & Planning in the delivery and oversight of the SPS strategy, including operating model, organisational design and key transformation programmes.

 

Management of Risk

 Maintain awareness of operational risk and minimise the likelihood of it occurring including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting in accordance with section B.1.2 of the Group Operations FIM.

 

Observation of Internal Controls

·      Ensures that HSBC internal control standards are met, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

·      The role holder will adopt the Group Compliance Policy by escalating any identified compliance risk in liaison with, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.

·      This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.

HSBC is going through an unprecedented period of change in its move to a sustainable globally led and connected organisation. There is increasing external scrutiny and pressure on the Financial Services industry from governments, regulators, media, investors and brokers. 

The role holder needs to help maintain and evolve robust SPS governance, which is aligned with senior stakeholder expectations and within tight. The role requires the willingness and expertise to implement SPS team objectives and wider DBS requirements over time, with guidance and clear direction from the Head of Strategy & Planning.

The role holder needs to possess the ability to champion the importance of ensuring SPS governance is fit for purpose, while maintaining of relationships with stakeholders across SPS and wider DBS, including within the regions.

·      Understands the strategy and objectives of SPS and contributes towards these

·      Prior experience in a governance role including report writing and presentation creation is highly desirable

·      Attention to detail and ability to review and challenge data to draw meaningful insights

·      Ability to work and organise oneself and others in a constantly changing environment, with challenging stakeholders and to timelines

·      Sound judgment, keen sense of urgency, and high level of professional and personal integrity

·      Capable of building relationships with stakeholders based on integrity and trust

·      Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels across the Group

·      Ability to influence stakeholders to drive collaboration and support issue resolution

·      Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint
