MSS NFR Analyst

Our client HSBC are currently seeking an experienced MSS NFR Analyst to join their team in the London office/hybrid working, this contract will be for 6 months with a review to be extended.

 

Role Purpose

The Markets & Securities Services (MSS) Non-Financial Risk (NFR) team is a global function that sits within the MSS area within Global Banking & Markets (GBM). The NFR team helps manage and control non-financial risks in the business, including but not limited to assurance, information control, conduct and product lifecycle risk.

The Risk Specialisms and Supervision pillar sit within the NFR team and has oversight of and manages the framework by which the business handles non-public information.

This role will work within the MSS Risk Specialisms and Supervision team supporting the running of the Global MSS NFR executive committee meeting and managing escalations for GBM to the Group NFR meeting board. Additionally, the role holder will work with the Information Control pillar as a generalist offering analytical support across the MSS Businesses.

Principal Accountabilities:

•           Secretariat for the MSS Global NFR executive committee meeting, that serves as the governance body providing global oversight of the MSS non-financial risks and controls. This includes managing the agenda, pack creation and writing minutes

•           Responsible for managing escalations for GBM to the Group NFR meeting board, including coordinating responses across business lines globally.

•           Responsible for updating the global MSS Escalation Matrix which documents the formal escalation process following an operational incident within MSS.

•           Own, manage, and continually assess the effectiveness of key processes / controls, including but not limited to:

o           Wall Crossing; NDA Information sharing; Physical Segregation; Physical Access

•           Participate in process improvement work and ad hoc projects

•           Ability to suggest and propose changes to processes; driving change and participating in system enhancements

•           Actively participate in team meetings. Bringing solutions / suggestions / recommendations to the table.

 

Operational Effectiveness & Control

•           Ensure that all predefined deadlines are met

•           Ensure that MI continues to support and assist the requirements of the wider stakeholder community

•           Contribute to regular reviews of existing processes and service levels with the MSS NFR team and implement updates as to regulatory requirements.

 

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

•           Bachelor or Master’s degree

•           Minimum 3+ years of experience in analytical data or Markets controls role

•           Knowledge of Financial Markets required

•           Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)

•           Proficient in MS Office (incl. Excel & PowerPoint)

•           Strong interpersonal skills and experience of working effectively and independently in a small team and also collaborate with global colleagues and stakeholders

•           Ability to work under pressure and within tight timelines. Excellent time management and prioritisation of work tasks

•           Self-motivated, enthusiastic and proven rapid learning capability

•           Ability to support decisions with sound reasoning

•           Ability to clearly articulate implications of analysis and findings

•           Ability to act proactively and multitask without supervision

•           Ability to learn and grasp and new systems, tools and databases quickly
