Role Summary:
Securities Financing is a cross-asset asset class within HSBC Global Markets, incorporating multiple business lines; Cross-Asset Prime, Repo, Delta1, Futures Execution and Derivatives Clearing Services. There are several on-going topics within Securities Financing Risk & PnL which require incremental Business Analyst (BA) skill-set – specifically meeting PRA commitments re Intraday risk management, and front-office cross-asset risk viewing requirements
Role Responsibilities:
· The key activity of this role is gathering and analysing data in order to increase understanding of Securities Financing Risk & PnL, to ensure the designs and solutions delivered will be effective.
· Understanding the context of the work i.e. the regulatory drivers and the Securities Financing Platform, particularly the front-to-back system architecture and flows within the Risk & PnL space
· Guided by an experienced Risk & PnL Product Owner, use this understanding to deliver accurate, insightful and timely data and data analysis which will lead to correct designs and solutions being delivered to the Securities Financing business
· Work closely with other Risk & PnL Business Analysts in other asset-classes and working for e.g. the FRTB programme to ensure best practice is established and any opportunity for reusing approaches / data is taken
· Solutions delivered must successfully balance e.g. tactical vs strategic / cost-benefit / time-to-market etc. and the data analysis delivered should inform this decision making
· Communication is key and this role will involve communication with stakeholders who will require a succinct summary of progress, along with timely and accurate communication of the challenges and issues that are encountered
Skills / Experience:
· Business Analyst experience (at least 5 years’ relevant experience in Global Markets Risk & PnL environment), ideally in Equities but cross-asset also an advantage
· Evidence of a successful track record delivering high quality data business analysis within a Global Markets environment
· Experience of facilitating data driven decision making, ideally in an Agile environment
· Experience of delivering both technology and non-technology change
· Excellent analytical skills
· Good understanding of business analysis best practice, methodologies and the project lifecycle
· Good written and communication skills and ability to operate at multiple levels
· Collaborative front-foot style with ability to quickly build trust and credibility
