Software Category Manager

£706.38 per day Umbrella

London (hybrid)

6-month contract


Summary:

HSBC are currently searching for a Software Category Manager to join the team in London. This role will support the Category Lead in working closely with stakeholders specifically in Global Banking and Markets Technology (the investment banking arm of HSBC). Additionally, within this role you will develop an influential senior level relationships with designated businesses and work collaboratively and, where appropriate, challenge to ensure the management of cost and risk remain a key focus.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a market leading source-to-contract service, working with colleagues and suppliers to minimise cost and maximise growth  
  • Drive innovation and value-add activity with key suppliers, and where possible and appropriate, supporting revenue generation through third party relationships on behalf of the business.
  • Deliver a consistent framework for the bank to identify, assess and apply controls to the risks associated with external third-party engagements
  • Ensure HSBC meets its regulatory obligations
  • Lead sustainability strategy for suppliers to deliver net zero and establish positions on human rights, diversity, and inclusion
  • Ensure HSBC meets its regulatory obligations for supply chain sustainability
  • Supporting the creation of sub-category strategies and plans to achieve or exceed agreed savings targets for the category.
  • Driving business outcomes and behaviours with subject matter expertise to drive value through the category planning lifecycle.
  • Constantly monitoring supplier market and identify opportunities resulting from new product offerings and/or market shifts (e.g., entry or exit of suppliers, changes in pricing, risk on category).
  • Seeking alternatives to current category specifications/ demand parameters.
  • Continually monitoring buying channel compliance for the business/ function with whom they own the Procurement relationship and driving corrective action, as necessary.
  • Conducting strategic reviews, managing performance review, and developing joint account plans with key stakeholders/suppliers.

 

Experience Required:

 

  • At least 5 years’ experience working as a category Manager
  • Experience working within Software Sourcing
  • Experience negotiating Software procurement contracts
  • Significant experience developing relationships with senior stakeholders and vendors
  • Experience leading strategies for suppliers
  • Ability to drive innovation amongst a team
  • Experience managing performance and strategy reviews
  • Experience working within financial services preferred
