Interim Head of Global Mobility

Our client HSBC are currently seeking an experienced Head of Global Mobility to join their team in the London office/remote working, this contract will be for 6 months with a review to be extended.
Role Purpose
• Responsibility for managing Global Mobility strategy and policies – ensuring fit for the future given changing landscape of international mobility
• Understand market trends and best practice in global mobility and bring external thinking to shape our proposition
• Oversight of end to end global mobility services for assignees and local transfers e.g. relocation, tax and immigration
• Oversight of global mobility tax and immigration including business travel compliance
• Oversight of hubbed operational services including mobility advisers
• Responsibility for management of key vendors for all relocation services, tax and immigration
• Development and implementation of global risk management and control frameworks covering the delivery of tax and immigration services.
• Delivery of global projects (Business Travel compliance, new and existing cross border working policies)
Customers / Stakeholders
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Group/Global Business/Global Functions/Regional Performance & Reward colleagues ensuring cultural and business differences are respected and valued.
• Ensure excellent employee experience through our vendor and team interaction with assignees
• Responsible for working with other teams in HR (for example Payroll and Delivery Services) to ensure seamless service

• This role is part of the Benefits, SharePlans, Wellbeing & Global Mobility leadership team
• Build a strong team over time with an ethos of agility, continuous improvement, and innovation
• Bring pro-activity, problem solving skills, thought leadership and advice to HR teams
• Navigate the HR matrix, aligning Group, geography, and global line HR agendas

Operational Effectiveness & Control
• Identify operational inefficiencies and risks and present remedial suggestions and options, monitoring implementation of agreed solutions
Major Challenges
• Global Mobility touches every country and business in the group, plus many other internal stakeholders, both within and outside of HR, plus external stakeholders, authorities, and vendors – the management of these connections is challenging with a constantly changing legislative framework, business environment and vendor landscape.
• Global Mobility operates as a global platform with global policies, core processes, systems, vendors, and operating structures.
Role Context
• The role will report directly to the Managing Director, Head of Benefits, SharePlans, Wellbeing & Global Mobility
• Global Mobility sits within the Performance and Reward function in HR.
• The role will operate with a high level of autonomy, engaging directly with key stakeholders and suppliers at a global, regional, and country level.
• The role will manage a team based in UK, Asia, Europe, Americas and India.
• The role will be based in London.
Management of Risk
• The job holder will continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
• This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring.
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
Required:
• Experience of Global Mobility management for at least 5 years – preferably in a global role and in-house.
• Experience in tax (preferably Big 4) and immigration and of managing key vendors
• At least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification.
• Key Capabilities – ability to communicate complex concepts simply and briefly to senior stakeholders, pro-active, problem solving, creative, agile, with operational skills.
• Ability to demonstrate strong influencing, facilitation & stakeholder management skills across all levels of management.
• Strong interpersonal skills, confident and ability to work at all levels within a global business environment.
• Ability to deal assertively but sensitively with varied internal and external stakeholders across a matrix environment.
• Experience of leading and managing a team
• Strong customer experience focus
• Proven track record of successfully leading both design and implementation of complex reward/HR initiatives and projects.
• Highly developed presentation skills
• Calm under pressure; ability to re-prioritise in very short timescales.
