Business Continuity Operational Resilience Manager    
Birmingham/ Hybrid-Remote

Our client HSBC are currently seeking an experienced Business Continuity Operational Resilience Manager to join their team in the Birmingham office/remote working, this contract will be for 9 months with a review to be extended.

Role Purpose
•            The Global Business Continuity and Incident Management (BCIM) function is a core pillar of the Bank’s Operational Resilience strategy. Through the facilitation and the completion of the Business Impact Analysis (BIA) for each Important Business Service (IBS), this role will support the Business Service Owners (BSOs) to identify vulnerabilities in the recovery of their IBS. The creation of the IBS Business Continuity and Incident Management Plan (BC&IM Plan) will identify and document appropriate business continuity responses to mitigate the impact of these vulnerabilities. These responses will be exercised through a series of annual IBS tests.

Key Accountabilities
•            Main Business Continuity contact for the BSO/delegates/managers.
•            Support the BSOs in managing the risk to their IBS by facilitating the creation and ongoing maintenance of an IBS Business Continuity and Incident Management Plan.
•            Highlight vulnerabilities to the BSO as identified in the IBS BIA. 
•            Develop, facilitate, and report on IBS Scenario Testing, as agreed in the Country/Entity Test Plan.
•            Provide SME guidance on the inclusion of the BSO in the IM framework.
•            Providing training sessions for the BSO and BSO community on their BCIM roles and responsibilities.
•            Provide the necessary reporting to support the management of the timeliness and quality of the Ops Res IBS Business Continuity Lifecycle Activities.

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications (For the role – not the role holder)
The following knowledge & experience are considered vital to this role:
•            A strong understanding and proven experience in the following:
o            Operational Resilience and/or Business Continuity
o            Scenario Testing
The following are highly desirable:
•            A high-level understanding of the regulatory priorities for operational resilience, the broader landscape and the challenges for firms with a global footprint.
•            Very strong influencing skills and the ability to offer constructive challenge to business heads in relation to Business Continuity and Resilience Strategies.
•            Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to facilitate understanding at all levels of the organisation.
•            Strong analytical skills – ability to interrogate complex information, including mapping documentation.
•            Resilient and adaptable individual with ability to overcome obstacles and resistance.
•            Significant operational experience gained in the financial services industry including experience of people and process management.
•            Project management skills and experience is preferred along with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
•            Holder of a professional Business Continuity/ Operational Resilience qualification (e.g. Member of the Business Continuity Institute (MBCI)).
