Quantitative Analyst XVA Analytics 

Until end of December 2023

Up to £700 per day via an approved umbrella company

Customer Segment & Location:

 Global Banking & Markets, Global Finance, London Role Purpose (overall high level summary of the role) PC Global Analytics is a global function with representation in London, Paris, New York, Hong Kong and other financial centres. It is part of Group Finance with reporting lines to Product Control.

PC Global Analytics aims to ensure that derivatives pricings are at market standards and compliant with regulatory rules. It develops a robust framework built on C++ and Python languages to distribute its quantitative solutions to all 40 Global Markets locations.

This role is for PC Global Analytics, within the XVA (Credit, Debit and Funding Adjustments) work-stream and will report into the Analytics Lead. The individual will be working on maintaining, implementing and developing quantitative methodologies for fair value and prudent valuation, as well as delivering projects on behalf of PC Analytics.

The individual would provide quantitative support to Product Control (both Core and Valuations) in all areas of XVAs, more specifically on the move to a new strategic solution in relation to SA-CVA. The work will also involve addressing model findings and deficiencies. Principal Accountabilities:

  • Development/enhancement of methodologies and infrastructure within XVA Fair Value Adjustments space.
  • Contribution to the Analytics Python and C++ libraries
  • Participate and present in regular stakeholder (Product Control, Development team, Market Risk, Front Office) catch up sessions to keep up to date with ongoing projects and deliverables.
  • Work with other teams within Global PC Analytics, e.g. Stress Test to ensure XVA infrastructure allows to satisfy all regulatory requirements.
  • Internal and external stakeholders are satisfied with level and quality of communication and solutions.

  • All issues are identified and escalated with an appropriate action plan.

  • Leadership & TeamworkWork with other areas within PC Analytics, Finance IT, Product Control, Group Finance, Liaise and work together with key stakeholders.

 

  •     Operational Effectiveness & Control Encourage efficient and streamlined processes for PC Global Analytics.
  • Ensure policy / methodology consistence across all business areas as well as across all sites globally
  • maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external Regulators;
  • understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the areas in which you are involved specifically Internal
  • Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy
  • Ensure that there is full compliance with the Global Markets FIM
  • To maintain the HSBC internal control standards including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, together with any issues raised by external regulators.

  • Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements) Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

0 Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications (For the role – not the role holder. Minimum requirements of the role.)

  •  Education & Experience:University degree (Class 2:1 or equivalent)
  • Masters or PhD degree in Quantitative Finance or in a numerical subject (Maths, Physics, Engineering)


  •  Skills and Competencies:Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Familiarity with Valuation Adjustments (XVA), Funding and Liquidity
  • Knowledge of financial products (Rates, Credit, FX, Equities) and their derivatives (swaps, forwards, options)
  • Python proficiency, familiarity with SQL and source control
  • Familiarity with C++ is an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Attention to detail and consideration of timelines
  • 2-3 years of relevant working experience
