HSBC are currently searching for a Data Management lead to join HSBC within Global finance. Within this position, you would have the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders, including Global Business, Function, Regional and Country Chief Data Architecture Officers (DAO) and their teams as well as Finance teams and Chief Data Architecture Officers (DAO). There will be extensive stakeholder engagement required at all levels to implement the HSBC Data & BCBS 239 Policies across the defined end-to-end processes.

  • Responsibilities: Defining data dictionary for global processes
  • Support and govern the capture and documentation of data-flows end-to-end
  • Support and govern the design and implementation of effective data quality, business & IT controls across the end-to-end process
  • Identify controls deficiencies, work with the teams to document business requirements controls uplift
  • Oversee the asessment, identification of candidate, trusted finance sources for certification
  • Ensure the Finance workstream are aligned to Group DAO data management approach & policies and BCBS 239 data regulations
  • Lead the data management assurances across the Finance workstreams to ensure data artefacts/ outputs are compliance to HSBC data policy and BCBS 239 data regulations
  • Design and implement Data Management Operating Model to achieve ongoing controls effectiveness
  • Design, implement and coordinate data management Attestation Operating Model to examine periodically controls effectives, across all Finance processes.
  • Manage a small team, and accountability of the defined deliverables


Knowledge / experience:

  • Knowledge:Strong knowledge of data uses and flows within a large diversified global bank
  • Strong knowledge of data quality issue root cause analysis and remediation
  • Knowledge of best practices in data quality monitoring and remediation
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements of a large diversified global bank
  • Knowledge of Finance function in a large diversified global bank
  • Experience on large-scale projects
  • Experience of dealing with senior stakeholders
  • Experience of delivering business value in pressurised environments and under tight timescales
  • Experience in solving complex data quality issues
  • Experience of managing internal team members from a variety of skill sets and experience levels
  • Ability to re-engineer processes and applications
  • Skills:Subject matter knowledge on data-related issues and solutions
  • Excellent project/ program management skills
  • Data analysis
  • Use and design of Qlik Sense and other dashboard tools
  • Ability to build connections and work collaboratively across country and business borders
  • Manage a small team of resource
