HSBC are currently searching for a Payment Optimisation Business Analyst to join their team in 8 Canada Square, London. This position is an exciting opportunity to help define and be part of the team implementing new technology to manage the Banks payment prioritisation into financial markets. If you were successful in this position, you would be expected to work closely with all stakeholders primarily within Treasury, Cash and Liquidity Management and, relevant Payment teams across the Bank.

Additionally, this position will require the successful candidate to define and agree the necessary scope, deliver clear and concise requirements, document as-is business processes and perform gap analysis. You would also need to define the “to-be” processes, ensuring all changes required to deliver a payment prioritisation platform that can be embed across relevant functions (business, operations etc.)

  • Key Responsibilities: Define the scope of the project and agree this with the necessary stakeholders
  • Deliver clear and concise requirements to those integral within the project
  • Document the current as-is business processes and procedures and perform gap analysis to identify areas that could be improved
  • Work closely with other departments, including but not limited to stakeholders within Treasury, Cash and Liquidity Management, and relevant payment teams across the bank
  • Help define the “to-be” processes whilst ensuring that all changes required can be embedded across the relevant functions
  • Work with an agile methodology
  • Prepare content and present findings to governance forums and senior stakeholders
  • Key Requirements: Understanding of end-to-end payment process and hands-on experience with payment systems in general. Experience of payment prioritisation advantageous.   
  • Good understanding of liquidity risk and management ideally gained especially within regulatory projects.
  • Experience of all stages within the programme / project lifecycle including initiation, scope definition, requirements gathering and traceability, testing, training.
  • Presentation of complex ideas succinctly, both verbally and in written form.
  • Preparation of content and presentation to governance forums and senior stakeholders.
  • Support business readiness documentation and work with CaLM to ensure Operational Business Readiness - tracking and assisting with delivery when required.
  • Generation of business requirements documentation and strong process mapping skills
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, stakeholder engagement and management
  • Working within agile project delivery.
