Product Delivery BA/PM

Edinburgh/ Hybrid

£522.50 PAYE / £678.38 Umbrella per day

Rolling 6 Month Contract – Likely 12 Months+

 

Our client HSBC are currently seeking an experienced Product Delivery BA/PM to join their team in the Edinburgh office/remote working, this contract will be for 6 months with likely extensions.

 

Role Purpose

•            The Product Delivery function is part of the Banks & Broker Dealer sector within Market & Securities Services. The function is focused on helping to deliver a digital transformation of the Custody Business (Global Custody, Direct Custody and Treasury functions), with the aim of delivering on a product roadmap to enhance our client experience as well as create new, innovative products to allow for future growth.

•            As a Product Delivery Project Manager / Business Analyst, you will work in a collaborative, dynamic environment to help shape some of our digital products & deliveries. Your activities will include:

 

Contributing to our vision, strategy and roadmap by working hands-on with designers and engineers, helping to clearly break down product roadmaps into requirements and user stories.

Working closely with internal teams, including the Product Managers, to define solutions or enhancements for existing and new products, and drive projects to execution.

Taking initiative to proactively uncover potential product gaps and making data-driven suggestions for product improvements.

Facilitating engagement with stakeholders including clients and vendors, to design and promote solutions that contribute towards a seamless digital journey for our clients.

Interacting with our Operations and Client Services teams across multiple custody locations to ensure global change is consistent across our network.

Supporting in prioritisation of the backlog, ensuring focus on delivery of business value.

Helping our fast growing Product Delivery team to adopt new Ways of Working, and encouraging a culture of experiments and innovation to better support the business and our clients.

•            Contribute to the delivery and implementation of business solutions by building relationships, sharing your own insights and proactively identifying improvement opportunities.

•            Conceptualise solutions and features that meet our product roadmap, using feedback from and collaborating with internal teams including Product, Operations, Control & IT, as well as vendors and clients, where required, to ensure deliveries are appropriately supported throughout the lifecycle.

•            Perform business analysis to elicit requirements and create documentation such as Business Requirements Documents, Feature & Functional Specifications and Solution Design Documents for Post Trade implementations.

•            Manage expectations by developing and executing a communication process to keep others up-to-date on project or change status.

•            Ability to ask deep clarifying questions to ensure a common understanding between all parties.

•            Ability and willingness to balance client and user needs with business priorities whilst articulating the rationale behind decisions.

•            Develop close and effective working relationships with multiple internal & external teams.

 

Leadership & Teamwork

•            Work with the direction of Programme Director and Programme Managers to deliver complex business change, ensuring a timely delivery of projects which meet established feature, usability, content & quality requirements.

•            Collaborate across functions such as Product Management, Operations, Client Executives, Sales and IT to prioritise and implement requirements and QA of new releases to ensure a successful product delivery.

 

Operational Effectiveness & Control

•            Ensure that all changes are delivered to the highest standards of quality including signed off documentation, application of quality assurance process and effective communication to ensure business readiness is completed.

•            Is aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.

 

Observation of Internal Controls

•            Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

•            Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.

 

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications           

•            Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

•            Self-starter mind-set, proactively identifying issues and opportunities.

•            Strong background & knowledge of Post Trade Industry, client onboarding or account opening is desirable but not essential.

•            Good understanding of Securities Services – is advantageous but not essential.

•            Use commercial awareness to solve problems with the greatest business impact by choosing and applying flexible and creative approaches.

•            Ability to tackle multiple projects simultaneously and switch focus as necessary.

•            Ability to manage ambiguity to bring clarity to requirements by effectively engaging clients or partners.

•            Commercially minded and confident working with numbers in a business environment.

•            Experience in digitizing processes, and desire to drive delivery and execution of digital initiatives.

•            Bachelor degree and minimum 5 years of practical experience in Project Manager / Business Analyst roles.

•            Evidence of sound understanding of agile working practices and project management skills: this may include formal qualifications and/or certified online courses and/or evidence of practical experience.

•            Strong documentation skills to produce business analytics artefacts and / or client presentations.

•            Awareness of agile methodologies to improve ways of working.

•            Promotes and takes accountability for quality; identifies opportunities to improve delivery and oversees the governance process to reduce risk and ensure effective and timely decisions.

•            Experience of digital technologies, solutions and data driven design is useful.

•            Sound understanding of IT infrastructure and software development lifecycle in the context of system changes. Problem solving and critical thinking. Experience of working in environments with digital and data technologies is highly desirable (but not essential).
