Business Analyst

Duration 6 month

Role Purpose

·         The Solvent Wind Down (SWD) Capability Senior Business Analyst will have business analysis responsibility for designing data processes, producing requirements through to IT and testing/implementation. The focus is primarily on data sourcing, mapping and standardisation, but also encompassing systems and process change where necessary.

·         The Solvent Wind Down (SWD) Capability Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for contributing to completion of the IT dependent capability and BAU operationalisation.

·         The project impacts on multiple areas notably Finance and Risk. This role’s focus is problem solving, data sourcing, data mapping and system solutions for SWD across Traded Risk, Product Control, and, in the future, ALCM.

 

Key Accountabilities

Impact on Business

·         Deliver the Solvent Wind Down capability through close collaboration with Traded Risk, Product Control, HOST IT and ALCM stakeholders as well as the wider RAF programme

·         Work with stakeholders to agree capability scope, requirements and delivery priority

·         Identify target business outcomes, and manage scope and solution delivery to ensure they are met

 Customers / Stakeholders 

·         Effective engagement and delivery of objectives to agreed timeframes

·         Clearly documented artefacts with required approvals

·         Building of good working relationships with the Traded Risk, Product Control, ALCM, and Global Markets

 Leadership & Teamwork

·         Strong communication and effective team working within the SWD project team and also with Traded Risk, Product Control, IT, and ALCM partners

Operational Effectiveness & Control

·         Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs, GSMs, circulars) and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group’s standards of ethical behaviour

 

Major Challenges

  • The programme has multiple touch points and can be very fast paced with a high volume delivery schedule so management of dependencies and prioritisation are key to ensuring stakeholders remain supportive and productive in the programme
  • Agreeing data sources and connecting data across multiple systems in multiple locations
  • Working and communicating with a variety of stakeholders across regions and businesses

    

 

     Role Context

  • The role exists to provide the data analysis element of implementation of a Solvent Wind Down solution for regulatory and internal purposes, with ongoing enhancements to meet new internal and regulatory requirements
  • The role aims at retaining flexibility to be able to deal with a changing environment, both internally and externally driven, and at nurturing strong internal relationships

      Role Dimensions

  • The role holder will join a Finance Change team that manages complex transformational and important regulatory change
  • The role holder will be a point of contact between Traded Risk and both Product Control and IT
  •  Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications (For the role – not the role holder)

 

Technical Skill Requirements

 

  • Experience of working with complex and/or relational databases, including an understanding of the control environment surrounding those databases
  • Good knowledge of Market Risk processes and systems
  • Familiarity with key Market Risk concepts (Risk sensitivities, VaR) and Global Markets products, especially derivatives
  • Familiarity with key Finance concepts (eg/balance sheet, mark-to-market) would be an advantage
  • Strong analytical and data design skills with a demonstrated ability to extensively analyse business processes, especially data and workflows and deliver required project artefacts to a high standard
  • Uses excellent verbal and written communication skills, is able to communicate effectively with all testing stakeholders and produce clear test artefacts
  • Willingness to take a ‘hands on’ approach to data analysis and mapping
  • Experience developing instructional and procedural documentation and presentations
  • Change Delivery experience on large and complex projects
  • Strong business/client engagement skills
  • High level of competence with MS Office
  • Ability to work both autonomously and to contribute to a team
  • Self-motivated with a proven rapid learning capability in a changing environment
  • Delivery focused with attention to detail, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to a high standard of quality
  • ‘Can do’ attitude - willing to turn a hand to whatever task is required and support the team
  • Able to build relationships and influence others, including business heads, senior managers, third party consultants, technical experts and business users
  • Shows willingness and potential for increasing their responsibilities within the project
  • Some experience and understanding of Python coding would be an advantage

 

Educational Requirements

 

  • Educated to minimum of degree level or equivalent professional qualification

Experience

 

  • Financial Services Project experience across both internal reporting and regulatory requirements, including experience of Finance and Market Risk systems and processes
  • Experience in change management, driven by IT systems implementation or enhancement, across a large organisation
  • Experience of working in an agile IT delivery environment
  • Track record of successful delivery
  • Demonstrated experience of large scale project implementations involving IT
  • Experience of working in a large, global banking organisation
