Trader Assistant

£302.50 PAYE / £392.75 Umbrella

London (Hybrid)

Role Summary:

This role sits within the IBOR Transition Operations Team to support the Emerging Markets Rates Middle Office trade support function. If success, you will be responsible for supporting the Product Sales and Trading teams across the EM business to ensure a smooth IBOR transition with the trade capture and restructuring of the physical IBOR traders to RFR’s.

Key Responsibilities:

Day-to-day tasks are as follows:

·        Provide close Middle Office support directly to sales and trading as well as FO business management

·        Promptly raise control and process issues with line management

·        Attend weekly controls meetings and provide daily MI to highlight volumes and outstanding

·        Work closely alongside Technology and Operations to ensure successful delivery, communicating effectively with the business via weekly governance meetings

·        Ensure adherence to FIM / Controls

·        Identify risks and issues and escalate appropriately

·        Provide excellent client service both internally and externally

 

Major Challenges:

·        Minimize operational losses and ensure root cause is understood and appropriate action taken to prevent re-occurrence

·        Understanding multiple systems and regulatory initiatives and their impact on HSBC front to back

·        Meet demands of new business and processes via the NPDD and TAP process

·        Improve efficiency through regular review of existing processes and refine amendments were appropriate

 

Key Experience / Knowledge:

Experience and skills that are required for this role are as follows:

 

Basic Requirements:

Trader assistant / Middle Office experience and strong Interest rate product knowledge, in particular experience in physical trade bookings in Risk Systems, and investigating Risk & PnL issues

In-depth Requirements:

·        Previous experience supporting a fast-paced Front Office environment

·        Murex knowledge and demonstrable experience

·        Markitwire knowledge and demonstrable experience

·        Relevant product knowledge; Interest rate swap, Loan market or Fixed Income products

·        Experience working in a large-scale programme similar to IBOR transition or ideally in IBOR transition programme elsewhere 

·        An Awareness of situations that give rise to risk; both financial and non-financial, and how to manage them

·        A desire to continually improve processes and provide excellent service to stakeholders

·        Excellent written and spoken communication skills and ability to work within a team

·        Experience working with stakeholders both internally and externally as well as on a global scale

·        Experience working within a strong risk focus and maintaining a robust control environment is essential
