Job title – Senior Communications Manager, HSBC Asset Management

Location – UK (Remote) / Hong Kong

Rate – PAYE £425 / Umbrella £545.36 per day

Start date – ASAP

Contract – 12 months


Our client HSBC are currently seeking a Senior Communications Manager to join their team, undertaking a remote working role, this contract will be for 12 months.


Senior Communications Manager, HSBC Asset Management, is a member of the Global WPB Wealth Communications team, which collectively drives Communications strategy for HSBC as a leading provider of personal banking, wealth, insurance and asset management products and services. The Wealth Communications team comprises the relationship managers for these global business lines within WPB.


The role holder will be a communications professional with a track record in developing and driving internal and external communications strategy and activation. They will have responsibility for contributing to and leading global communications plans, projects and campaigns that directly support the commercial and transformation agenda of the Asset Management business. They will work as part of an integrated, flexible team that works in an agency model alongside specialists in employee communications and external relations.


The role holder is expected to have strong communications skills, with the desire to constantly build new capabilities and enhance their knowledge. They will need the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships quickly, and to coach and influence senior leaders and peers.


They will be expected to lead planning for creative and compelling content and campaigns in support of Asset Management team. They will also need the ability to develop and act upon measurement and employee insight. As the relationship manager for the global Asset Management business, financial services experience and an understanding of asset management is key to support the business’ commercial objectives.

Accountabilities for Business, Customers and Stakeholders

·      Strong relationship management skills, ability to positively influence outcomes and drive change

·      Experience in leading integrated communications projects to deliver commercial outcomes and culture changes, including the development of narratives, key messages, collateral, planning, delivery and measurement

·      Experience in strategic transformation communications to affect business-wide change, including new operating models, ways of working programmes, organisation design and restructuring

·      Experience in measuring performance of content and using insight to drive strategy

·      Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced and changing environment and achieve objectives

·      Strong writing skills for multiple channels and audiences



Leadership & Teamwork 

·      Experience in coaching and advising senior executives, and able to confidently provide strategic internal and external communications advice on the complete range of communications activity

·      Proactively collaborate with network communications colleagues to ensure engagement and alignment with communications plans and outcomes.

·      Adopt agile team ways of working to ensure collaborative, outcomes-focused approach to delivering multiple global projects and campaigns.

·      Work collaboratively with colleagues across the entire Global Communications function to ensure seamless delivery of priority programmes.

·      Contribute to the WPB communications community, enhancing functional skills and capabilities, deploying globally-consistent policies and resources and encouraging best practice and knowledge sharing.

·      Develop strong relationships with key champions, advocates and colleagues to facilitate execution of communication plans.

·      Experienced in working across global, highly matrixed, financial services organisations to deliver change

·      Ensure execution to world-class standards and share knowledge and best practice across the Communications network.

·      Keep up-to-date with latest communications research, techniques and approaches, and network externally with peers.

·      Support, coach and develop communications practitioners to deliver consistent and high quality communications in line with strategic goals.



Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications


·      Ability to develop holistic internal and external communications strategies that support business strategy, priority projects and support delivery of the business’ commercial outcomes

·      Ability to understand business issues and devise communication solutions that deliver results, constructing fresh approaches where appropriate and making connections to other issues.

·      Able to work within an ambiguous environment, prioritise and reconcile competing demands and resolve complex issues.

·      A proven track record in developing, managing and implementing communication plans, translating into solid and practical delivery programmes – within a Financial Services context, and ideally within the asset management industry

·      Excellent stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work confidently and effectively with senior executives across regional/global geographies

·      A strong team player who can work collaboratively with peers and encourage / deliver excellent performance from teams and individuals

·      Ability to work quickly, managing time and multiple priorities effectively

·      Excellent interpersonal, strategic planning and project management skills

·      Excellent verbal and written communications skills

·      Strong knowledge of communication trends and best practice

·      Broad knowledge of financial services industry and global marketplace

·      Able to proactively identify, mitigate and escalate potential reputational risks and incidents

·      Experience in crisis communications and management of reputational issues, including regulatory change
