Person requirement

The role will involve using Acrobat tools to work on existing forms and documents to make accessible PDFs to meet common accessibility standards, such as Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 and PDF/UA (Universal Access, or ISO 14289).

You will work with Acrobat Pro DC but it would also be useful if you had knowledge of:

• Adobe InDesign CC 2019

• Adobe LiveCycle Designer

Our forms are designed in InDesign (this is desktop publishing software), exported as a PDF and worked on in Acrobat Pro DC to add the functionality. Some forms are designed directly in Adobe LiveCycle Designer.

Additional information about the process

Public Sector Resourcing is currently seeking a PDF Designer for a 3 month contract on behalf of the Ministry of Justice

Location: London or Sheffield

Day rate: £350 to £400

Purpose of the Role:

Meeting GOV.UK standards

Earlier this year, we moved our forms from FormFinder to GOV.UK, making forms easier to find, with better descriptions, fewer broken links and easier to publish updated versions.

Government Digital Service (GDS) has published guidance on designing online forms. Moving to GOV.UK has made HMCTS subject to GOV.UK standards. This includes adopting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 standard, which covers a range of recommendations for making web content more accessible . A number of our forms do not meet GOV.UK standards currently:

• We have 665 PDF forms, with only a handful meeting WCAG 2.0 guidelines.

• We have 433 Word (and a few Excel) forms, none of which meet WCAG 2.0 guidelines
