The Role
Working within an existing delivery team to provide effective day to day management and direction to enable safe and efficient delivery of projects. A proven track record of successful project delivery in comparable industries is essential. Experience of NEC3 contract management.
• Establish a vision with proactive management to positively direct a team in the achievement of common goals and overall organisational objectives
• Take collaborative responsibility for ensuring the safe delivery of a project to time, cost and quality with responsibility for leading the project to a successful conclusion
• Take personal responsibility for the consistent application and standards of project procedures for performance of administrative, project and design in accordance with PD25 Magnox Project Management Process and Procedure
• Provide leadership, management and governance to ensure projects meet specified requirements
• Delivery of a project within a contractual framework operating with processes to ensure legal and contractual compliance in conjunction with the responsible Commercial Manager
• Verifies delivery programme baselines and operates project control processes (requirements capture, planning, cost, risk, trend analysis and change control)
• Through stakeholder analysis effectively identifies and actively manages stakeholders consistent with the overall strategy of the business and delivery of component programmes and projects
• Proactively works to prevent adverse impacts on delivery through management of risks and project interdependencies. This includes development of a project risks and opportunities plan and instigates mitigation measures or other appropriate actions
• Able to identify, define and manage change at an organisational level through the delivery of projects and work packages
• Provides project performance data (i.e. critical path analysis, float erosion, milestones, CPI, SPI and EVA) to Programme Manager on a monthly basis
• Lead CDM activities for the project in accordance with the Health, Safety and Environment process
• Manage interfaces with other projects and programmes as appropriate
• To develop strategic knowledge of project and programme Lessons Learned and “best practice techniques”. Lead their application to maximise effectiveness of Company project delivery.
• Actively and effectively communicate with management teams, co-workers, clients, contractors and other stakeholders
• Motivate and manage team performance. Carry out staff appraisals and manage staff related issues in line with Company HR policy, process and procedures.
• Identify development opportunities and training for direct reports and team members
• Take responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of all team members in line with legislative requirements. Demonstrate and encourage a safety first working culture
• Actively promote environmental awareness/considerations and sustainability through the project delivery cycle
• Assist the Programme Manager and Programme Director in discharging his or her strategic and capability development responsibilities
• Deputise for the Programme Delivery Manager as required
• Other duties as assigned
This role could involve working at height, heaving lifting, working in contaminated controlled areas.
Essential Skills/ Qualifications:
Educated to Degree level / holds professional qualification in a relevant discipline
Certification in project management e.g. APM Registered Project Professional.
Significant experience of delivering projects in a complex and challenging environment in a highly regulated industry.
Proactive communicator both internally and externally to the project
Customer focused with ability to develop and maintain positive and interactive project relationships
Fully conversant with CDM regs in various roles, civil, structural, heavy industry or building demolition experience is desirable.
