Portfolio and Project Manager
The Job:
At Engineering & Property Services (E&PS) we take care of all J&J buildings around the world providing end to end services from Real Estate, Engineering & Strategic Project Delivery to Facilities Management.
The Project Manager is accountable for the delivery of a facilities/utilities capital project portfolio of €5 – €10 Million Euro annual spend and will be based in Cork, Ireland. The role will encompass the Barnahely and Little Island Janssen sites. They will act as the single point of contact to all site business owners for site-based capital projects.The focus of the project role will be supporting projects with a facilities and utilities focus.
The candidate will act as Project Manager and lead specific projects through Project management standards FPX and IDEA. Responsibilities include driving innovation to ensure safety in design and construction is achieved, translating the business needs of our internal clients into a technical solution, applying learning tools, coordinating, and aligning project teams, and ensuring that our project delivery standards are followed.
Key relationships include collaboration with E&PS functions (Real Estate and Facility Management and Service Partners) CCFS/Procurement, EH&S, ITS and affiliate Engineering Groups across other functional areas, establishing effective working relationships with partners.
Responsibilities:
Portfolio Management
• Acts as single point of contact (SPOC) for the site(s) business with accountability for the delivery of the capital portfolio. This includes regular updates on portfolio performance, discussion of risks/issues with mitigations etc.
• Partner with site finance and business partners on capital spend, monitor and adjust as needed
• Ownership of capital planning processes (Long Range Financial Planning, Business Planning) and cycles while partnering with Finance and other business partners
• Responsible for the project prioritization process working closely together with site business partners.
• Ownership of portfolio processes and governance to track status, performance of overall capital portfolio (e.g., governance for review/approval CAR, establishing and monitoring key performance indicators at project and portfolio level)
• Ownership of project processes (FPX, IDEA) ensuring consistent project delivery
• Manage, develop and lead the project delivery organization, including delivering construction safety and identifying and securing appropriate internal and external resources to deliver quality, safe, compliant and productive infrastructure with a focus on reliability and customer service excellence.
Project Management
• Acts as Project Lead on Projects from concept to handover and business value realization stage in accordance with our IDEA process while collaborating across functional areas with business partners.
• Establishes alignment with sponsor, agrees management of customers, and aligns Internal and external teams to deliver the Project Objectives
• Communicates regularly with the Sponsor and aligns on communication to team members on all aspects of projects based on key performance indicators, maintains project communications and prepares reports for E&PS and Business Leadership.
• Understands the project intake process, solutioning and how projects should meet the business need, prepares for stage gates, and the development of the selected option for capital approval requests.
• Identifies appropriate project delivery functions, resources and strategies for the project via a Project Execution Plan.
• Coordinates the design, execution and close out of all projects related activities including leading internal resources and the procurement of third-party contractors, suppliers and consultants and monitors the project to plan against final project objectives.
• Controls and manages risks, changes and requests for changes with Sponsor and team.
• Handles Project Close Out activities including operational handover archiving, and financial project close and collation of benchmarking and lessons Learned and provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement
Have you?
• Bachelor Science Degree in Engineering required.
• Prior experience in portfolio management and leading small to medium capital projects in Supply Chain/manufacturing in a regulated environment, R&D, Distribution Centers or Offices
• Minimum of 5-10 years of Project Engineering/Management experience
• Understands business needs and can translate these to engineering concepts
• Technically knowledgeable, can relate to and understand technology-based issues
• Ability to lead and motivate remote and virtual teams and partners
• Knowledgeable of process/pharmaceutical industries and technologies
• Good knowledge of Project Controls in cost and schedule development, financial assessments and managing of budget and schedule
• Manufacturing experience in FDA or other regulated environments from design through start-up
• Experience on contracting and negotiation
• Business travel if required on project-by-project basis.
