Manufacturing Engineer – 2 Year Contract – Dublin 


Inspiring the future of healthcare together, a leading global medical technology company with over 170 years of experience and 18,000 patents is looking for a manufacturing engineer to join their NPI team in the areas of diagnostic and therapeutic imaging, laboratory diagnostics and molecular medicine, as well as digital health and enterprise services.


The role is based at the manufacturing site in Swords, Co Dublin, Ireland, for a duration of a 2-year contract.


Responsibilities:

  • Deliver technical support to the manufacturing and testing of medical device instrumentation in a low volume, high complexity and regulated environment. 
  • Deliver technical solutions to enchance product reliability and process capability. 
  • Work within a dynamic engineering change environment; actively supporting New Product Introductions, test fixtures and engineering design change activities to ensure optimisation in terms of part design, manufacturing technology, verification and validation activities, implementation to production.
  • Work with R&D, manufacturing operations, quality & procurement to deliver product and supply base improvements to meet business needs.
  • Initiate and project manage product and process change activities, technology transfers while assuring continuity of supply. 


This role is suited to someone with:

  • Overall ability to combine technical, design and manufacturing skillsets in a high pace, dynamic environment. 
  • Problem solving, planning, analytical skills. Ability to collate and analyze large amounts of data for decision making. 
  • Understanding of various supplier manufacturing technologies; such as metal fabrication, metal machining and castings, plastic molding, PCBA, cables, optics and fluidics.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to initiate and lead product optimization projects on a cross-functional and cross-site basis
  • Team player who can build strong and influential relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.


Have you?

  • Batchelor’s degree in Engineering or related Science discipline (QQI level 8).
  • 3 years + relevant experience.
  • Formal training in WCM disciplines (JIT, lean, six sigma, DOE) would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work in technically complex multi discipline areas. coupled with the ability to write concise technical reports.
  • Have strong technical trouble shooting skills.
  • A willingness to lead change and technically mentor teams to best in class practice. 
  • Understanding of various supplier manufacturing technologies and commodities, such as metal fabrication, metal machining, plastic moulding, PCBA, cables, optics, and fluidics
  • Strong problem solving, planning and analytical skills.
  • Ability to collate and analyse large amounts of data for decision making
  • Excellent oral communications, business writing skills and presentation skills
  • Self-directing, goal-oriented tendencies and able to prioritize workload in an Agile environment
