Public Sector Resourcing is currently seeking a Senior User Researcher on behalf of our public sector client the HM Land Registry.
Location: Plymouth (must be willing to travel to other offices)
Duration: Initial 3 month contract (possible 3 month extension)
Purpose of the Role:
Land Registry’s user researchers work with users to understand their needs and expectations of our services. They work closely with designers and developers in agile project teams, making sure that our new and existing digital services are:
• designed to meet user needs
• built and run in ways that work for users
As a user researcher on the Portal Refresh project, you’ll be an experienced user researcher able to plan and lead research in large teams and complex services. Additionally, you will use your skills and experience to help nurture the community of practice for user researchers at Land Registry. To do this, you’ll need to:
• be an experienced practitioner of user research and able to keep the voice of the user at the heart of the team’s activities.
• be experienced in techniques including interviews, contextual inquiry, usability testing, content testing, persona generation, user journey/experience mapping
• work with product managers and owners to devise appropriate research strategies that generate focused insights to support product development
• work with colleagues in related areas (e.g. customer insight, performance analysis), ensuring activities are aligned and that user researchers are supporting the wider business
• guide, coach and mentor other user researchers in Land Registry
Essential:
Applicants should have at least five years’ experience in a user research role.
This role involves very regular travel, both for research with users and to Land Registry offices to meet with stakeholders. The role is primarily based in our Plymouth office but travel to other offices is to be expected.

• Take appropriate action or make decisions even when details are not clear
• Weigh up data from various sources, recognizing when to bring in experts/researchers or commission new research
• Identify the main issues in complex problems; clarify understanding or stakeholder expectations to seek best option
• Convincingly and tactfully persuade sceptical colleagues and stakeholders about the value and purpose of research
• Effectively capture, utilise and share customer insight and views from a diverse range of stakeholders to ensure better policy and delivery
• Confidently engage with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels, using strong interpersonal skills to develop and improve relationships with colleagues within and outside of user research
• Support and advise colleagues on good research practices
