EMEA Medical Affairs Scientific Knowledge Manager - psychiatry/ dermatology
PURPOSE OF JOB:
• To develop and maintain a Scientific Knowledge Management (SKM) strategy for a specific product or group of products, by building and maintaining consolidated scientific knowledge about the product(s).
• To be recognised as a scientific expert for a specific product or group of products.
• To ensure that the SKM strategy and SKM-developed materials are aligned with the relevant EMEA Medical Affairs Plan and Marketing Strategy and support the overall business strategy.
• To be responsible for providing scientific input into the development of EMEA Marketing and Medical Education strategy and materials and their subsequent review and approval.
• To identify requirements for, and to develop and maintain high quality Scientific Knowledge materials for a specific product or group of products for use in EMEA, including, e.g. EMEA Core Medical Information Responses (CMIRs), slide decks, product current awareness bulletins, clinical trial information summaries, etc.,
• To be responsible for SKM input into Janssen activities at International Congresses.
• To make Scientific Knowledge material validated for use in EMEA accessible through I MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE (the EMEA Scientific Knowledge Portal) and/or MIDAS (the EMEA Medical Information Document Management System).
• To work with the EMEA Scientific Knowledge Application Manager and other relevant functions to ensure that standards, processes and procedures are adhered to and that the SKM materials for the product(s) are maintained on I MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE.
• To be a member of the relevant EMEA Medical Affairs Product Team(s) contributing to the development of the Medical Affairs strategy for a specific product or group of products.
MAIN ACTIVITIES/TASKS:
• To develop and maintain SKM materials for the product: Ongoing identification and review of key data sources. Authoring of materials in line with agreed standards.Identification of materials and data sources to be maintained on I MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE . Approval of specific centrally held content and/or the management of the approval process where additional reviews are required. Authoring of regular product scientific knowledge bulletins (Current Awareness Bulletins).Authoring and annual maintenance of the MSL curricula for a specific product or group of products
• Ensure that meta-data and taxonomic classifications are in place for materials posted in I MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE.
• To be a member of the relevant EMAP Team(s) and other EMEA teams as appropriate.
• To work with stakeholders to identify evolving customer needs.
• To manage third parties (agencies) in developing additional content based on Janssen core SKM materials.
• To be responsible for ongoing review of product specific content maintained in I MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE and update/archive material as necessary.
• To manage communications to I MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE users e.g. availability of new content.
• To be recognized as, and act as, the acknowledged EMEA SKM Product expert and go to person for up to date scientific knowledge on a specific product or group of products.
• To respond to complex enquiries and local knowledge requests.
• To develop the EMEA Scientific Knowledge Strategy and plan for the product gathering inputs from in-country medical affairs specialists (eg. as part of virtual teams) and ensuring close alignment with the overall EMEA Medical Affairs Plan and Product Strategy (as above). To include identification of the materials required, priority areas to be addressed, strategy and plan for completing the materials.
• To provide SKM input into Janssen activities at International Congresses including: pre-congress briefing, collection of Medical Information enquiries, post-congress updates.
• Develop and maintain product expertise by e.g. ongoing review of available literature, conference participation etc.
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with all EMEA Medical affairs personnel working on the product.
• Represent EMEA Scientific Knowledge Management and maintain good working relationships with other EMEA functions and teams (e.g., ETAT, IBVTs, Information Management, R&D, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, etc.) for the Product.
• Work collaboratively with EMEA, local and Global Product Knowledge Specialists to proactively share best practice, and to build a Scientific Knowledge Management centre of excellence for Janssen EMEA.
• Continuously update knowledge of products, market trends and competitor activities, and of new developments and industry best practices in Scientific Knowledge Management.
• Participate in appropriate professional organisations and meetings, symposia and medical programmes to maintain and improve knowledge and expertise.
• Identify and implement value adding Business process improvements relevant to the SKM function (eg. Copyright and Literature Management, JAMIE)
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
• In depth knowledge of specific product or group of products and therapy area as well as main competitors
• Excellent knowledge of Scientific Knowledge Management processes and technologies
• Able to research, identify, analyse and synthesise information from multiple data sources
• Medical writing expertise
• Able to manage multiple projects within a complex and changing environment
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Customer and market place focused with an awareness of the importance of business results
• Academic background with a scientific/ medical degree essential
•Industry/business experience with an experience in a Scientific Knowledge Management or related (e.g. medical writing) role
• A good understanding of the varying medical practices and perspectives across EMEA
