About the Role

The UK Compensation Operations Manager role is predominantly project-based but will support the delivery of the Total Reward offering to the UK population. One of the most high-profile and significant projects you’ll be required to lead on is the delivery of the UK annual pay review cycle – Performance & Reward – known internally as ‘P&R’. The lead will plan and deliver the merit proposals and prior years’ bonus calculations for the UK population. It also involves significant stakeholder management across the organisation, in addition to substantial data validations exercises, system configurations and testing, training and leading various P&R-specific marketing campaigns.

Outside of the P&R cycle, typically lasting from October to April, the role will involve project managing other cyclical workstreams, for example gender gap reporting, compensation competitive analysis and market data survey submissions.

  • Supporting the embedding of a world-class Total Reward strategy that aligns with the company’s vision, mission and values
  • Answering queries from managers and employees regarding the Total Reward offering
  • Thorough knowledge of Compensation principles, regulations, techniques and good practice, and the ability to integrate with broader HR policies and objectives
  • Will lead annual P&R pay review cycle, using Workday and globally supported tools
  • Attend survey meetings and provide submissions to covered surveys
  • Improve analytical and data management strategies that optimise data quality and effectiveness through the design of Excel tools and dashboards
  • Support the Regional Compensation Director as needed on bespoke analysis and project support
  • Support the job evaluation process, maintenance, and cataloguing using established benchmarking and quantitative/qualitative assessment processes
  • Share insights, knowledge and best practice picked up through cases, general reading and networking efforts during regular team meetings, and maintain a proactive interest in industry trends and innovation, sharing knowledge with wider team
  • Provide thorough Compensation advice, guidance and data analysis to achieve a flawless ‘Total Reward’ customer experience, while helping to embed the ‘Innovation Performance Trust’ (IPT) agenda
  • Perform transaction activity as required in Workday
  • Proven ability to ‘story tell’ based on data analysis to embed the GSK’s Reward offering
  • Deliver education and training in support of Compensation policies and process
  • Maintain and continuously improve all Compensation Service through partnering with HR
  • Ensure that the wider UK Compensation Team is meeting the overall Service Level Agreements for the Compensation Services
  • Daily assessment of the case management tool and assist with escalation from Compensation Specialists

Must haves:

  • Undergraduate Degree or equivalent experience
  • Advanced Excel skills (Macro/VBA experience highly beneficial)
  • Excellent working knowledge of Reward principles, regulations and policies and ability to integrate with broader HR policies and objectives
  • Strong written and oral communications, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely – including experience in delivering presentations to large audiences
  • Superior analytical and data management skills with the ability to manipulate data and draw insights from the information
  • Ability to exercise mathematics at a competency level to perform percentile calculations, inter-quartile ranges, standard deviation, range differentials, and algebraic formulas in the manipulation of large amounts of quantitative data
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills; ability to handle high volumes of multiple tasks and priorities and remain calm under pressure
  • Self-motivated and self-aware – recognises own strengths and weaknesses and is committed to personal development
  • Results-focused. Understands what is important to the business – is committed to achieving goals and accountable for their work. Tenacious approach to delivery, quality of output and organisation
  • Possess the confidence and empathy required to cope with highly sensitive cases
