Financial Accountant

GSK House, Brentford

10 Month Contract

Pay: up to £300 per day


JOB PURPOSE

The Corporate Sundry team manage Corporate Sundry actuals, planning and forecasting. Corporate Sundry includes costs which by their nature may be difficult to allocate to a specific business unit, or costs that have been incurred centrally and require recharging to the business. Corporate Sundry costs include: UK/US Pensions, UK/US Long-term Incentives, UK/US Insurance and Global Health Programmes.

The Financial Accountant’s key responsibilities are to:

  • Coordinate and consolidate month end and quarter end Corporate Sundry activities including:

  1. Ensuring accurate accruals
  2. Balance sheet reconciliations
  3. Meaningful variance analysis.
  4. Preparation of the Corporate Sundry Monthly performance pack for review by the GAL&S FD and for ultimate discussion with the Group FC on WD6.

  • Preparation of budgets and reforecasts
  • Drive process improvements and standardisation.
  • Ensure processes operate effectively, maintain quality and accuracy of all financial processes and ensure analysis meets requirements.
  • Liaise regularly with Genpact to coordinate completion of month end activities.
  • Actively support Deloitte for audit queries.
  • Develop business partnerships with key stakeholders in the business, markets, regions and Corporate Finance teams.
  • Maintain relevant process documentation to meet Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.


DELIVERABLES/SCOPE

  • Preparation of Corporate Sundry Monthly performance pack.
  • Establish links with key partners in the Business, Corporate Finance, markets and regions.
  • Support Finance Manager in providing detailed analysis for audits.
  • Support Finance Manager with any ad-hoc queries.
  • Maintain relevant process controls and documentation to meet Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Drive process improvements and standardisation.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Educated to Degree Level.
  • Previous experience of accounting principles for Group Employer Pensions and Share Based Payments.
  • Member of Professional Finance Institute (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) 2+yr PQE
  • High degree of competence in Financial Accounting.
  • Sound knowledge of current accounting standards as they apply to GSK with ideally a good knowledge of GSK’s financial processes and systems e.g. SAP, BISON and Trintech.
  • Strong analytical skills, with accuracy/attention to detail/integrity in producing results
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and effective influencing skills.
  • Assist in the delivery of continuous improvement in reporting cycles and quality of information.
  • Challenge existing accounting and analysis processes to ensure they provide high quality information on a timely basis.
  • Results focused, planning and prioritising, meeting deadlines and delivering results.
