Description:

An opportunity has arisen in Product Development supporting our New Chemical Entities (NCEs) portfolio. As a valued member of the Process and Product Engineering department, you will use your technical knowledge and experimental skills to support the development of robust chemical processes.

This is a highly practical role where you will be working primarily in the R&D facilities, supporting one or more NCE projects at various stages of development.

The role is focussed on effective delivery of identified laboratory work-packages, and you will be a core component of multi-disciplinary project teams. You will be responsible for the execution of packages of laboratory experimentation, across a range of pharmaceutical unit operations.

You may also be responsible for set-up, maintenance and provision of user training for specific items of laboratory equipment.

As an active member of multi-disciplinary teams, your engineering/chemistry skills will contribute to the development of robust manufacturing processes for novel drug substances. You will thrive in this environment if you can effectively deliver against project timelines, clearly communicate your findings and enjoy working in teams.

Key job responsibilities:

• Deliver process engineering/chemistry support to development projects as part of a multi-disciplinary technology team by execution of defined work packages, maintaining compliance with the appropriate quality and safety standards.

• Record, report and communicate your experimental work to both engineering and multidisciplinary teams, maintaining compliance with the appropriate quality and data integrity standards.

• Interpret experimental data, initially under the supervision of experienced engineers/chemists.

• Take responsibility for specific laboratory equipment set-up, maintenance and utilisation, including delivery of user-training.

• Contribute to engineering/chemistry solutions for the design and scale-up of novel processes, working alongside R&D scientists.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience of working in a GMP environment.

• An understanding of the design, development, and implementation of new processing technologies.

• Highly effective interpersonal, organisational and communication skills for working in a multi-disciplinary scientific team environment.

Basic Qualifications:

• Degree or equivalent in chemical engineering, chemistry or similar scientific areas.

• A thorough understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of lab scale process engineering and/or process chemistry.

• Experience of performing experimentation in a chemical synthesis laboratory environment.
