Pharma Global Privacy Leader

Privacy Leaders are the key point of contact for privacy matters related to the processing of personal information in accordance with GSK’s Privacy Policy, Standards and SOPs. Privacy Leaders serve as first line support and internal point of contact to their Business Unit (BU) employees & line management who are responsible for processing personal information. Additionally, Privacy Leaders support the Regional Privacy Officer (RPO) and Country Privacy Advisors (CPA) in the Local Operating Countries (LOC’s) for notifications to and/or authorizations from the Data Protection Authority (DPA) for processing of personal information.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Develop and lead the Pharma BU global privacy programme utilising a risk-based prioritisation approach (agreed/signed off by risk owner and Leadership team member), and provide informed challenge and input into Privacy CoE plans to ensure appropriate adopt/adapt strategy of the Enterprise Risk Plan.

2. Design and drive the implementation of the GSK’s Privacy Internal Control Framework into existing and new Business activities, including tracking agreed actions to closure and ensuring ongoing maintenance and review. This includes completing privacy impact assessments, developing and implementing mitigating controls and reviewing results from monitoring and auditing to ensure any findings or risk are remediated by the BU or GSF

3. Understand and articulate the needs of business and technical stakeholders via regular dialogue and proactively advise them on Privacy issues to mitigate risks

4. Status report to senior governance bodies such as BU RMCBs

5. Support the design, global implementation and tracking progress of privacy-related training for BU staff

6. Analyze and implement process changes required from the changing global landscape on Privacy laws

7. Embed Privacy by Design into new Business activities, including assessing impact and influencing framework change where necessary, including by staying current with ever changing Privacy Laws

8. Maintain ongoing communication with Country Privacy Advisors and other LOC stakeholders to ensure continued alignment between global and local processes

9. Support submission by DPOs or CPAs to Regulators for any notifications of processing of personal information and assist in any complaints, incidents or breach notification impacting their BU.

10. Support responses to Individual Rights Management requests, ensuring the right stakeholders are engaged in the information collection.

11. Drive continuous improvement and support capability/quality innovation including benchmarking with other BUs internally and external companies – both within and outside the industry


Required Qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, Law or equivalent Privacy qualification

• Extensive experience of working within the GSK Business unit or Global Support Functions (or previous organisation) as a process owner or experience of application compliance

• Experience in Privacy or Governance, Risk and Compliance, particularly with regards to delivery of risk management internal controls and compliance

Additional Skills:

• IAPP Certification or similar

• Ability to work effectively and sensitively in a highly matrixed organisation across geographies and cultures.

• Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams to achieve tactical and strategic goals

• Strong problem-solving skills that are pragmatic, which demonstrates a strong understanding of the business.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence individuals at all levels of the organization

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate Compliance and risk-related concepts to a technical and non-technical audience
