Mechanical Fitter

Montrose

12 month contract

Rate - £17.60 PAYE (training rate moving to £20.71 (trained rate)


To maintain and install mechanical plant and equipment. This will provide reliable plant and equipment to both meet the manufacturing plan and satisfy the external regulators. The maintenance includes scheduled routine, corrective and breakdown Maintenance as well as plant modifications and plant reconfiguration.


Responsibilities:

·      Works as part of a team to install, commission, test and maintain mechanical plant, apparatus and special purpose machinery.

·      Fault-find and overhaul all types of pumps, gearboxes, compressed air equipment, refrigeration plant and associated equipment, steam & water generation plant.

·      Installation and maintenance of pressure vessels and other special purpose plant items, associated with the chemical process.

·      Monitor and interpret the condition of services, plant and record status.

·      Undertake engineering projects and plant modifications.

·      Flexibility to embrace any future advancement in tools, techniques and working practices associated with the role after appropriate training.

·      May be involved in safety, housekeeping and GMP audits.


Key Skills:

·      The ability to; interpret engineering drawings, perform fault diagnosis, analyse data, use computer systems eg CMMS and perform appropriate administration duties.

·      Carry out Condition Based Monitoring using the appropriate tools and techniques.

·      Development of apprentices by sharing knowledge, experience and demonstrating the skills required.

·      Compliance with all appropriate SHE and cGMP procedures and practices.

·      Problem solving and understanding customer requirements and issues.

·      Safe use of tools and equipment in the maintenance environment.

·      Work with minimum supervision, demonstrate initiative and be capable of making decisions affecting their own area of work.

·      Scheduling of workload, prioritising and organising in conjunction with the TM’s/TSE’s and utilising the maintenance management system CMMS

·      Installation and repair of basic pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

·      Install and maintain pipework and associated equipment and undertake basic pipefitting in a range of materials, including mild and stainless steel, copper, glass.

·      Interpret engineering drawings and maintenance manuals.

·      Inspection and testing of safety relief valves, flame traps, bursting disks and non-return valves.


Qualifications:

  • SVQ level 3 and City and Guilds
  • NC or HNC in engineering discipline
