Analytical Scientist

3 Months Contract

Location: Worthing

Pay rate £22.74 per hour via Umbrella (inside IR35)

 

 

Job Description  

 

 

To perform established analytical methods and develop new analytical methods to perform characterization of large molecules and support biotechnology projects on behalf of Bio Process Science (BPS).  Ensuring that all results are accurately recorded and work compliant to the appropriate Quality and EHS standards.

 

Responsibility 

 

  • To liaise with internal and external scientists to develop the best analytical approach for a range of different project samples.
  • Carry out routine analysis of samples to support delivery of UCH and BPS objectives.
  • Develop new methods for the analysis of APIs, metabolic intermediates, enzymes, etc to support delivery of BPS objectives.
  • Validate analytical methods as appropriate.
  • To adhere to and help maintain the highest levels of Safety and GXP across the department.
  • Ensure facilities and equipment are maintained to an appropriate standard and raise issues as necessary.
  • To interact and liaise with other MSAT teams to support delivery of UCH objectives.

 

Job-Related Experience

 

·      0.5-2 years HPLC experience (High Performance Liquid Chromatography)

·      Chemistry or Biology background

·      Previous experience of working in a laboratory environment

·      Able to understand and carry out practical tasks within the laboratory independently

 

Educational Background

 

·      A Levels and/or significant experience of analytical sciences.

·      Degree in Analytical Science

 

Skills / experience  

 

  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of eLNB and Empower.
  • Knowledge of GLP
  • Ability to work across multi-disciplined teams.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, both written and verbal.
  • Flexibility to work in a dynamic environment with multiple customers.
  • Work with minimum of direct supervision. Individual will be expected to show a high level of initiative and self sufficiency in organising their day to day workload.

Ability to use problem solving and continuous improvement techniques.
