Global Category Leader

6 Month Contract

Remote

£764 per day Umbrella (inside IR35)

 

Job Purpose

Accountable for all sourcing and contract management across their assigned mid-sized category(ies). This will include the development and implementation of category strategies; the contracting for master/service/product agreements within the categories; the management of supplier relationships that fall outside of the enterprise SRM structure for these categories; and for ensuring the suppliers key to their category(ies) commit to deliver GSK’s performance/quality/financial requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

·      Manages one or two categories/commodities, complex sourcing and category management role in GSK

·      Key role in Strategy Development

·      Contract planning, negotiation, execution, interpretation and maintenance; manages / monitors ongoing negotiations with 3rd parties

·      Champions the sourcing group management process and policies across functions and links these to GSK's strategic direction

·      Knows and utilises complex business processes in all GSK supplier transactions, including all risk/regulatory/compliance requirements

·      Implements and supports procurement strategies to maximise supplier leverage

·      Significant external supplier knowledge

·      Be the global procurement Business Partner and align with Senior Global Stakeholders and BU Chief Of Staff to determine the pipeline and global book of work across Professional and Legal Services categories.

·      Manage the end to end process to challenge sourcing approach and scope of the business requirements. Challenge and drive continuous improvements with in-house Vs third party Vs outsourcing approach.

·      Manage Professional Services strategies and collaborate where there are synergies with other global procurement categories such as Staffing and Recruiting – with the use of CWs.

 

Basic qualifications

·      Relevant experience in procurement

·      Proven negotiations and contract management skills.

·      English proficiency (written and oral), other language will be a plus

·      Leadership/communication skills

·      Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships

·      Demonstrated ability to effectively use negotiation and conflict resolution skills to protect GSK rights and interests

·      Ability to prioritize multiple tasks across multiple projects using project management skills

·      Proven ability to provide effective procurement management in complex organizations using technical expertise and analytical skills

 

Interaction

 

·      Typically interacts with Director / VP / GM level

·      Demonstrated success in collaboration with a wide range of senior leaders across Professional Services and relevant suppliers.

·      Constructively challenging stakeholders within their field of expertise in order to maximise ROI and align category strategy across multiple markets. To do this a high degree of credibility will be required along with the ability to hold robust debates with senior leaders in GSK and suppliers

 

Multi-Cultural Requirements

·      This may be a global or regional role and will require a strong understanding of cultural differences with regards to negotiation and managing strategic relationships.

 

Impact

 

·      This role will have a significant impact on GSK’s overall strategies and activities, requiring engagement with stakeholders. The efforts and priorities of this role will include supporting the on-time delivery of the Professional Services pipeline, ensuring compliance/quality/performance/value of the services/products acquired, and identifying opportunities to accelerate improvements to each.

·      This role will increase the level of trust with current and potential GSK suppliers to define new commercial/contractual options to improve cost model transparency, from project budget elaboration to project completion.
