Data Analyst - EHS team

Stevenage, Hertfordshire - Hybrid Remote Working

12 Month initial contract

Pay rate up to £210 per day PAYE or £280 per day via Umbrella inside IR35

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Using statistical techniques, collect and analyse data from the client’s internal EHS databases and systems (accidents and injury reporting, driver safety, seismic risk assessments, compliance against GSK health and safety standards, etc.) and convert it to actionable intelligence; 
  • Lead the design of comprehensive data, intelligence and value proposition tools for commercial EHS within the EMEA region, incorporating all relevant aspects of high severity risks that exist for staff, assets and operations;
  • Identify and communicate trends within complex datasets to stakeholders across the business, including the top problems that need to be solved and how to solve them proactively;
  • Use internal data analytics tools (e.g. Power BI, QlikView) to develop data dashboards that can be accessed by corporate security partners and senior stakeholders on demand;
  • Improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) for implementing databases and data collection systems for the EHS programme;
  • Plan, research and draft a range of tailored reports to deliver actionable insight for internal clients, including periodic reports (monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, etc.) and bespoke briefs with minimal supervision;
  • Maintain clear and coherent communication, both verbal and written, to understand data needs and report results;
  • Display creative thinking and consulting skills to deliver an added value and continually improving service in the EMEA region and global business;
  • Provide voice of customer feedback on their experience of our internal systems and how they could be improved to the EHS Technical Services & Reporting team
  • Identify gaps in crucial data, information and intelligence, and submit plans to fill them;
  • Conduct briefings as needed for a variety of levels of customers as requested (via phone, video conference, in-person briefing, or industry conference);
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with internal stakeholders across the client business; and
  • Collaborate with other analysts globally at GSK to identify best practices, techniques and resources for data intelligence analysis.

 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

 

Minimum

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business Management, Retail Management, Health & Safety, or related field
  • Between 3-5 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 1 years’ experience working with data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, SAS Analytics, Tableau, Google Analytics or Qlik)
  • Passionate “data cruncher”, with the ability to collect, collate, manipulate and visualise data from a wide variety of sources
  • Demonstrated ability to extensively analyse data, trends and produce quality, forward-looking briefings
  • Ability to liaise with other business departments (e.g., Tech, Real Estate, Facilities Management & Operations) to implement technical solutions specific to data analysis
  • Previous experience using proprietary databases and systems, including the handling of sensitive data and information
  • Comfortable engaging and partnering with senior stakeholders
  • High level competency with MS Office tools (particularly Microsoft Excel)


 

Preferred

 

•       Advanced degree (Master’s or above) in a relevant subject

•       Good knowledge of risk assessment processes within the pharmaceutical sector

•       Good knowledge of EHS regulations (particularly UK and EU)

•       Occupational Health & Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH)

•       Experience within a global EHS team
