Up to £35 per hour PAYE OR £45 per hour via umbrella
The Department of Protein and Cell Sciences at GSK’s Medicines Research Centre in Stevenage (PCS UK) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled lab-based scientist with experience in molecular biology to join our team. The department is engaged in the design, generation and validation of biological reagents to support drug discovery across all of GSK’s therapeutic modalities. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing internal molecular biology support for the department.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and generation of DNA constructs in various host systems
• Isolation, purification and scale-up of plasmid DNA
• Analysis of DNA sequencing data
• Supply DNA constructs across the team
• Record data and bioregistration of generated constructs
• Work effectively both individually and as part of a multidisciplinary matrix team
Essential Skills:
• B.A./B.S. or M.S. degree in Life Sciences and 1-2 years of laboratory experience in a molecular biology laboratory
• Knowledge and demonstrable experience with molecular biology techniques, such as PCR and primer design, general cloning techniques, PCR, DNA purification, agarose gel electrophoresis
• Experience with modern molecular biology software tools
• Excellent attention to detail
• Track record of flexibility and teamwork
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent record keeping skills
