Multi Skilled Engineering Technician (70% Mechanical/ 30% Electrical)

Maidenhead

Pay rate £21.80 per hour PAYE

6 Month Initial Contract


Job Purpose:

To ensure the site is exceeding its required Customer Service level, the Multi Skilled Technician will react rapidly; apply standard approach to fault finding and rectification, to minimize MTTR. Ensure the production equipment is maintained correctly and available to achieve to Site Goals. Generate innovative and creative engineering solutions to reduce day to day performance variation, deliver effective maintenance and minor capital project and drive improvement in; continuous improvement, safety and compliance. To be able to demonstrate a Multi Skilled approach to the role, whilst also displaying Leadership behaviours of others and themselves.


Candidate Responsibilities:

  • Follow engineering safe practices e.g. LOTO, PTW, Only Takes a Minute RA.
  • Diagnosing and rectifying the root cause of faults, in a timely logical manner, utilising available evidence, appropriate documentation, tools and techniques.
  • Perform corrective and planned maintenance tasks and ensure the correct closure of works orders i.e. PMs and CMs from MERPs including calibration activities, Safety and Quality Critical maintenance tasks.
  • Initiate, own, assist and when required lead, with the resolution of RCAs (Root Cause Analyses) and Changeover/Deviation AARs and completion of resulting actions.
  • React to and drive the reduction in short stops and breakdowns. Effectively communicate issues and ensure the correct use of the escalation process.
  • Ensure compliant and effective use of removing and returning parts to engineering stores.
  • Responsible for leading the accountability process in own local area, updating line boards with Engineering Quality, Safety and Maintenance issues, together with ownership from the accountability meeting.
  • Assist and deliver improvement projects to reduce breakdowns and short stops.
  • Developing best practices for carrying out maintenance tasks in the form of Engineering documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with site standard operating procedures and MyLearning.
  • Attend/complete compliance training e.g. GMP, SOP, as specified in individual learning plans.
  • To ensure that GMP, Quality, Health and Safety processes are adhered to in all aspects of the role.
  • Work individually and within a team to minimize MTTR and MTBF. Work effectively on prioritized breakdowns and issues.
  • Review, highlight or update Engineering documents, fault finding guides and maintenance instructions.
  • Develop within your team and cascade knowledge.
  • Support and work with the Production Engineers to ensure effective transfer of information and knowledge.
  • Be able to provide supervision, coaching and mentoring to other Technicians.
  • To be able to provide Multi skilled (1 skill plus Electrical) support and direct to Technician team members.
  • To be able to Work with the Control and Automation technician to identify and remove training and develop requirements of the Technician Teams.
  • To proactively review, highlight and remove any foreseen issues with spare holding and requirements, part availability and to demonstrate an ownership behaviour, of the production equipment.
  • Support/manage outside contractors when on site.
  • Demonstrate use of interrogation tools to enable problem solving, effective root causing and resolution.
  • To be multi-departmentally skilled
  • To be trained and perform a minimum of two of the following: risk assessments, permit to work issuing, train the trainer (ie LOTO, manual handling) , train the assessor.
  • A proven history of CI improvements within local area & or cross-departmentally.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience of working in an FMCG environment.
  • Proven history of working on similar machinery and under pressure to achieve compliance in Safety, Quality and performance.
