Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated protein biochemist senior scientist with a passion for protein purification to join the Department of Protein and Cell Sciences at GSK’s Medicines Research Centre in Stevenage (PCS UK). You will be responsible for the generation and isolation of a range of proteins from different host backgrounds. In your role you will work in partnership with drug discovery experts to generate protein reagents to support the discovery of antibody and small molecule therapeutics. You will have a strong interest in protein production and purification and have skills in: protein expression, purification, and analysis. You will have excellent experimental record-keeping skills plus excellent written and oral communication. An attention to detail and an ability to work towards agreed timelines will be considered a key asset of the successful applicant.
Essential Skills
• Life Science graduate
• Experience of expression and purification of recombinant proteins and antibodies
• Demonstrated knowledge of protein analytical and biophysical characterisation techniques
• Track record of flexibility and team work.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good record keeping skills
Preferred Skills
• Experience with mammalian and insect cell culture, transfection and expression techniques
• Experience with molecular biology design and construct generation.
• Strong data handling skills.
