Cloud Engineer 

6 Month Contract

Hybrid working required to be on site in Brentford once a week

Pay rate up to £397 per day via Umbrella inside IR35



Now is an exciting time to join the R&D Tech organization and play a part in the modernization strategy to support GSK. The cloud Senior Engineer, Established Products and Support is a key role in this mission and is accountable for leading the innovation strategies to modernize the tools and techniques used across the entire R&D portfolio increasing value, in alignment with each of the solution group strategies.


The Established Products portfolio consist of approximately 500 systems in use across all of R&D. As Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for leading one of the key innovation strategies (Chatbot, RPA/API, cloud Finops) to adopt modern technologies in supporting the Established Products ‘Simplify and Modernize’ agenda. In partnership with strategic suppliers and GSK tech colleagues, you will manage the delivery of innovation initiatives to modernize the experience for system users and improve the quality and efficiency of systems and services.

  • Contribute to strategies across the established product portfolio to deliver our ‘simplify and modernise’ agenda:
  • Infrastructure (cloud first, automated monitoring and cost control)
  •  Chatbot/Virtual agents (improve user support experience and make efficiency/quality improvement)
  • Automation (Implement automated solution for cloud infrastructure management using Terraform, automating repeated tasks performed by support teams using modern cloud-based/other third party tools and technologies)
  • Provide a technical management capability to coordinate/deliver cross portfolio initiatives
  • Provide technical guidance to the team on cloud-based tools and technologies or other third party tools where required to resolve technical challenges
  • Provide guidance to partners about how best to carry out the ongoing operational management of the technology to achieve stability and optimum performance.
  • Identify continual improvement opportunities to achieve application stability, auto incident resolutions, automating complex and time-consuming service operational activities


The Engineer is a “T-Shaped” role demonstrating both depth and breadth across key engineer competencies e.g. Software Development, Testing, DevOps, Data Science/Analytics, Lifecycle Management, etc. and the ability to successfully collaborate with experts from other subject domains.

  • The continuous delivery of technology solutions to automate L2 support repeated tasks, Cloud finops management, cloud PaaS services monitoring or provisioning resources automations etc
  • Ensures that technical delivery is fully compliant with GSK Security, Quality and Regulatory standards.
  • Proactively develops and delivers continuous improvement/simplification of Product portfolio to enhance user productivity, increase system reliability and reduce the total cost of ownership.
  • Keeps relevant technical documentation up to date in support of the lifecycle plan for audits/reviews.
  • Provides technical direction and GSK expertise to product teams composed of GSK FTEs, strategic partners and software vendors.

Basic Qualifications (Required):

We are looking for professionals with these required skills and knowledge to achieve our goals:

·      Bachelor’s Degree in science, engineering, computing or relevant work experience.

·      Excellent relationship management, strong influencing, and communication skills at a senior level.

·      Hands on experience in Azure and or GCP IaaS (like VM, containerization technologies etc) and PaaS services (like Data ingestion, data transformation, data storage and web app tools and technologies)

·      Hands on experience in SQL, APIs

·      Hands on experience in any of these programming language, Python,PowerShell or Terraform scripting

·      Hands on experience in Azure DevOps Tool, JIRA

·      ITSM tool understanding e.g. ServiceNow

·      Agile Scrum and Kanban process understanding/experience

·      Pharma Business process understanding

 

 Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

·      Proficiency / Knowledge in some of the following areas:

o  Data science (e.g. AI/ML), data analytics & data quality/integrity (Power BI, Kibana).

·      Experience of product lifecycle & service management.

·      ITIL Knowledge

·      Experience with data structures (i.e. information management), data models or relational database design.
