Data Product Owner - Finance

This is an exciting opportunity to join and support GSK Consumer Healthcare in its journey to becoming a more data-driven organisation. This means providing our teams with easy access to relevant and timely data to inform faster and more insight-driven decisions.

As part of the Data Innovation Team, Data Product Owners will work in partnership with Technology and the business to bring to life data-driven user stories. They will then act as the conduit between the agile delivery teams and the business to ensure precious resources are correctly utilised. This includes attending the agile ceremonies, including stand-ups, backlog refinement and retrospectives.  


Product Owners will build strong relationships with the business stakeholders through regular interactions and updates on progress, including leading ‘show and tell’ sessions and managing the User Acceptance Test (UAT) process. 


This role is ideal for a person with a passion for bringing structure and collaborating with a range of business and technical stakeholders to rapidly deliver real value to the business, our customers and consumers. Applicants should be experienced in working in an agile methodology with teams and stakeholders across a global environment. In addition, a strong business analysis skill set is required to be able to identify and assess value to prioritise delivery in line with the business needs. 


Data Product Owners will have the opportunity to work across and bring a product mindset to a variety of products across Consumer Healthcare – Finance specifically. 


Key responsibilities include:

The responsibilities of the Product Owner are to represent the CH Finance business stakeholders during the end-to-end lifecycle of a data product; working with the Data Product Director – Finance to assess the demand, quantify and articulate its value to support prioritisation of delivery through agile methodologies. 

·      Identifying the business demand and assessing the value 

·      Developing and prioritising the product demand level roadmap 

·      Guiding development by articulating the business challenge and required functionality

·      Ensures value is delivered during adoption and rollout 

Required qualifications & Skills:

Delivery focus:

·      Product ownership and management experience. This means managing a product backlog that iteratively delivers features to the business in order of highest business priority / value 

·      Knowledge of data structures, technology and governance processes (e.g. Azure Data Lake) 

Agile experience:

·      Experience working within agile teams through at least one of the agile methodologies – Scrum, Kanban etc 

·      Demonstrated the ability to break work down into separate areas of discrete functionality in the form of product epics, features and stories 

Business Analysis:

·      Demonstrated strong business analysis skills working with business teams to identify and assess the value of different needs to enable prioritisation. Knowledge of the Finance function preferred.

Collaboration and Communication:

·      Product management skills, including interpersonal skills, research, communications (esp. listening), demonstrated influence, and the ability to have crucial and difficult conversations. 

Finance-based Industry experience:

·      Experience of working within or with CPG/Consumer Healthcare, specifically with or within Finance is preferred, delivering data and technology solutions to finance stakeholders and end-users. 

·      Having the ability to understand and translate user needs into technical requirements, converting these into successful solutions.
