Senior Financial & Commercial Manager

GSK Stevenage, SG1 2NY

6 Month Contract

Pay: up to £568 per day (Inside IR35 - via Umbrella ONLY)

 

 

Background & Role Overview

GSK is undertaking a large and complex programme to separate its currently integrated consumer business into a standalone legal and operational entity. The new entity will become one of the largest Consumer Healthcare companies in the world, offering many well-known and trusted brands.

The Technology Infrastructure programme operates as one part of the overall business separation programme and is accountable for timely delivery of infrastructure, tools and capabilities to support effective operations from day-one of the new organisation. We require a Senior Financial & Commercial Manager to work in our fast-paced environment and provide financial, commercial and contractual leadership to the Infrastructure Programme

 

Key Objectives

  • Promote good financial behaviours across the Infrastructure Programme through provision of data, creation of reports, regular communications and reminders, etc
  • Maintain and update cost forecasts to always reflect best current knowledge
  • Develop and apply financial controls to ensure all spend is approved & appropriate
  • Support good decision-making within the infrastructure programme on financial and commercial matters eg through rigorous analysis of alternatives
  • Provide reports to and interface with colleagues in other parts of the separation programme and key stakeholders such as GSK Finance
  • Ensure that technology contracts required for the new organisation are in place pre-separation

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain tight budget discipline within a highly changeable environment
  • Provide timely, clear and concise reports to the infrastructure programme team and a set of external stakeholders
  • Advise decision makers of the financial implications of their actions and of programme changes
  • Work with colleagues in procurement and the central programme to identify required contracts and to ensure they are executed on a timely basis

 

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Ideally have extensive financial / commercial experience in a technology environment, preferably in the IT infrastructure space, and so able to translate and quantify the financial impact of technology discussions / decisions in our evolving environment
  • Qualified accountant and / or undergraduate degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Computer Science or Maths
  • Have experience of financially controlling large projects within complex requirements
  • Strong financial and management accounting skills to deal with all reporting requirements of the infrastructure programme
  • High level Excel skills
  • Contract management experience in a technology environment. Able to work with colleagues in Legal & Procurement functions to develop the contract portfolio required by the new company  
  • Confident, proactive self-starter; proven stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Comfortable in dealing with and navigating ambiguity or shifting context
