About the Master Data Management transformation

Early in 2019, we started a journey to transform master data management (MDM) to allow GSK to become a data enabled organization capable of driving the required step change in our analytics and digitalization agenda. By working closely with internal and external master data experts, we were able to understand where our master data eco-system was broken and where we needed to drive improvement opportunities to ensure the critical foundations are in place for GSK to realize its’ ambition.

During 2019 we designed a target operating model to provide the foundation for a scalable and sustainable enterprise-wise MDM service line. During 2020 we’ve built a global MDM Service Management Framework and ways of working, and we’re now in the process of transitioning to the new MDM & Services (MDM&S) function based out of Bangalore, India. This end-to-end global master data management service line will support us in becoming a data enabled organization and it will contribute to setting us up for success under Future Ready to become two standalone companies.
