Project Manager

·       The BTO Project Manager role within the SPO organization was introduced to design, lead and drive key global, cross-functional, business improvement programmes initiatives having a significant sustainable impact across R&D and Vaccines arena, as key member of the BTO. 

·       Drive strategy implementation and embedding through project management of a major R&D/Vaccines initiatives and being responsible for overall programme and project progress and success

·       Act as a coach, mentor and role model to programme teams to rapidly embed best practice programme management skills and ensure effective execution

·       Work closely with the team assisting with Agile ways of working and drive delivery of objectives working closely with other areas of the organisation

·       Manage key risks, issues, actions and decsions at project level and escalate as approrpitate to programme PMO

·       Work closely with change management to embed outcomes


Key Elements of the Role:

The BTO Project Manager works on projects that have high impact and may have a high degree of uncertainty and novelty in their approach and solution. Key capabilities include....

·       Formulation of delivery and implementation strategy

o Lead groups on drawing out and prioritising strategic questions and choices

o Lead teams on abstract principles from findings, and translate back to actions

o A key contributor to the development of strategic cross-R&D business capability enhancement funding proposal

o Draw on a broad collection of frameworks, tools, past experiences, and analogies for actionable strategies

·       Project management

o Translate objectives to clear deliverables, work packages, resourcing, and activities

o Manage and coordinate team members or larger, cross-R&D teams towards delivery

o Facilitate cross-functional meetings towards actionable outcomes and resolutions

o Participation in Agile Ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Demos, reviews, and daily stand-ups for Programme Level activities

·       Insightful analytics

o Help teams disaggregate problems and generate clear, testable hypotheses

o Orchestrate targeted analytics through strong logic and experience

o Draw out insights and highlight implications for own and other’s work

·       Have strong business acumen of embedding and continuous improvement of Portfolio Goveranance processes and PMO maturity


Geographic scope

· The role has global coverage, with the impact and beneficiary of change typically at a Global, Regional and Local level.


Basic job-related experience

·       Minimum of 3-7 years experience within the Pharmaceutical industry. Other industry experience can also be relevant if strong project management skills have been proven

·       Knowledge of Agile / Project management / Lean Sigma / business continuous improvement principles

·       Understanding of core Clinical processes and systems is preferred

·       Analytical, logical thought process with proven track record of strong matrix management, facilitation, and project management skills

·       Effective time management, ability to clearly identify priorities and manage multiple tasks

·       Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, communication skills, strong collaborator/communicator

·       Understanding of the lifecycle of pharmaceutical drug development and commercialisation

 

Education and Certifications / Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree

·       Experience with Agile Project Management, SAFe Agile PM Framework, Project/Programme management (PMP) and/or Lean/Six Sigma preferred. However, a track record of timely delivery of managing complex R&D projects using Agile and waterfall methodologies would be considered.

 

Other job-related skills / background:

·       Required: Strong Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams and database management skills

·       Preferred: Agile tools including Azure DevOps or Jira

·       Preferred Change Management Experience
