Associate Scientist: Eukaryotic Cells, Aseptic Technique, Molecular Biology 

6 month contract

Stevenage

Up to £22 per hour via umbrella

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and independent protein expression scientist to join the Protein and Cell Sciences Department at GSK. The position will be based at GSK’s state-of-the-art Medicines Research Centre in Stevenage. The department is responsible for the design, generation and validation of biological reagents to support drug discovery across all therapeutic modalities at the heart of GSK.

The successful candidate will be a key contributor to early stage discovery projects across GSK’s diverse portfolio. The candidate will be responsible for the production, amplification and validation of Baculovirus stocks using established processes. This would suit a young scientist with pre-existing skills in cell culture or virus production. Having the discipline and understanding to perform documented protocols you will be capable of working autonomously and as part of a dynamic team. The appointee will be capable of excellent experimental record-keeping and will have well honed written and oral communication skills.


Essential Skills

  • Experience with cultured eukaryotic cells and recombinant cell technologies
  • Evidence of working with good aseptic technique
  • Excellent documentation skills and a keen eye for detail and critical evaluation
  • BSc in the life sciences or equivalent experience
