Job Purpose and Key Responsibilities: 


Background:


In February 2020, GSK announced a two-year programme to prepare for the separation of GSK into two companies: New GSK, a biopharma company with an R&D approach focused on science related to the immune system, the use of genetics and new technologies, and a new leader in Consumer Healthcare.


In GSK Consumer Healthcare, our business transformation began with the announcement of our joint venture with Pfizer Healthcare in 2018. This joint venture has brought together an outstanding portfolio of world leading consumer healthcare brands and is a major milestone in our journey towards separation.


Our ambition is to be  the leading consumer healthcare company with a 100% single minded focus on everyday health, underpinned by our human understanding, trusted science and global scale.


To achieve this goal, we need to evolve our business strategy and ensure we develop a winning organisation and culture and work has begun on this in 2020 with a view to a wider roll out in 2021. 


The purpose of this role within the Global CH Communications team:


The CH Global Communicatons & Content team is responsible for internal and external communications for GSK Consumer Healthcare. We work with our corporate and regional communicators network, support the communication programmes for senior leaders, and also work with a network of stakeholders across the business to provide communication counsel and support for major change campaigns and issues management as an example.


A new manager role has been created in the CH Global Communications & Content team to support the development of a communications strategy and plan for our strategy and culture roll out, working hand in hand with the HR team responsible for developing the programme and content.


CH Manager – Culture and Strategy:


Deliverables:

·       Communications support within this programme will focus on engagement and activation of our new behaviours which form part of our strategy, our new Employee Value Proposition and engaging SMEs and leaders in our experience principles. We will work closely with the relevant HR teams to ensure alignment and timings for our plans.

·       Work with HR/change squads to create an internal comms plan and channel strategy for the roll out of new culture from 2021 onwards to help embed across our business, ensure our employees understand why our behaviours are important to our business and how they will help drive performance.

·       Provide communications insights and counsel into the work of any agencies brought on to support work in these areas.

·       Build in KPIs to programme work to monitor success & guide programme development.



Accountability:

·       The role will be accountable to the CH Strategy Comms Director and leaders within the CH Global Communications & Content team and the HR Change team for the effective delivery of internal engagement about our

·       The role is global in scope and the role holder will be expected to work with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences, including working seamlessly with the CGA network across the world.

·       This role will partner with senior stakeholders across Consumer Healthcare, including CHLT members and external agencies as required.


Decision making:

·       Role holder will be required to think and make decisions at a strategic level while also ensuring hands-on delivery of required work.  

·       The role requires the ability to influence and advise partners across Consumer Healthcare to respond to requests for actions and activities forming part of our Winning Org and Culture work, which may include changing behaviours and ways of working.

·       Calmness under pressure, with a ‘can do’ attitude and ability to work in a dynamic environment is crucial.

·       Building our understanding and commitment to our Winning Org and Culture, and the impact will have on our business is of high interest to leaders and their teams across the business. As such, our communications work must be timely and trusted as it will have a huge impact on our reputation as a business and with our employees.


Complexity:

·       Role will require working with complexity and uncertainty and in a highly matrixed fashion.

·       Role holder will also have to be adept at influencing stakeholders at all levels in the business and across functions.

Specialised Knowledge:

·       Significant experience in a producing content and managing communication campaigns within a large global organisation.

·       Strong creative writing and communication asset development, editing and visual storytelling skills.

·       Good working knowledge of internal and external digital channels (including Workplace by Facebook, LinkedIn Elevate).

·       Experience of change communications or working on a major change programme would be an advantage but not essential.

·       Knowledge and experience of setting targets for and constantly improve content and campaigns.

·       A confident communicator and networker; comfortable liaising with senior leaders if required.

·       Someone who values teamwork, who can prioritise and is motivated to work in an agile way, and who wants to leverage data and insights to continuously improve our employee experience.

·       Cultural awareness and ability to work across a highly matrixed environment with differing projects and deadlines.
