Visual Identity Director

GSK House, Brentford/Remote Initially

6 Month Contract

Pay: up to £865 per day (via Umbrella only)


Overview of role: 

  • Work with and support the Head of Creative Content and Visual Identity in developing a creative style and visual identity for the company 
  • Lead the development and delivery of the visual identity plan and ensure its effective implementation across the company 
  • Apply learning from other industry experts to ensure the VI is best in class, modern and able to communicate the complexity and breadth of communications created by the business 
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of brand guideline documents, assets and materials to support stakeholders in using and applying the visual identity 
  • Drive understanding and compliance with the visual identity, including answering questions and managing conversations with stakeholders across the company around VI compliance 
  • Day-to-day decision-maker around where materials are and are not compliant with the GSK visual identity – escalating to the Head of Creative Content and Visual Identity only in certain instances 
  • Oversee the development of materials about the company and its strategy, ensuring a consistent set of materials is available for us across the company 
  • Lead engagement with Legal to ensure the right Trade Mark coverage is in place and identify and challenge breaches 
  • Oversee Brand Hub management, ensuring it delivers for all stakeholders 
  • Lead on agency VI guidance and quality control, including oversight of quality produced by the Moment and Knowledge centre, with close links to Procurement to ensure compliance and measurement of agency performance with appropriate KPI’s. 
  • Oversee the management of agencies and partners delivering visual identity materials and support 
  • Work with VI Manager, Designer and Content Producers in the Creative Content and Visual Identity team to deliver the above 


Experience and skills required: 

  • 7- 10 years’ experience and a proven track record in leading and managing a visual identity across a complex organisation 
  • Experience in the creation of a visual identity, the brand management process, the strategic role of visual identity and the implementation of a visual identity across a complex organisation 
  • Expert understanding of design and brand asset management 
  • Experience in engaging with internal stakeholders around brand and visual identity compliance
