12 months

Reporting to the Global Tech & Digital Finance Director this Finance Partnering role will play a key role driving GSK Tech through a significant period of change for GSK.

2019 was a pivotal year in GSK’s history. In August, GSK’s Consumer Healthcare business and Pfizer completed a deal to combine businesses into a single, new world-leading Consumer joint venture. Three years after closing the transaction, GSK has signalled that the new Global Consumer business will be separated from GSK, and set a new exciting pathway forward for the creation of a new global pharmaceuticals/ Vaccines company (New GSK). In order to achieve this outcome, a significant period of transformation will be undertaken across the commercial businesses and the global support functions (GSF).

In Global Tech, we continue to have a unique opportunity - the world of technology and digital is constantly evolving and we are responding to it in order to remain competitive. In order to achieve the scale of change required, we commenced our Tech Transformation programme to ensure we are “future ready” – however this needs to be accelerated.

In Research & Development specifically, the integration of Pharma and Vaccines requires modernisation of development technology platforms and integrated data platforms. This modernisation will support Medical, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Patient Safety, Quality, and Biostats resulting in efficiencies and common ways of working. As a key enabler R&D Tech is accelerating the implementation of technologies in 2020 and 2021 with the aim to complete implementation and integration in the first half of 2022.

Supporting the Pharma and Vaccines integration Program Director, and Tech VP of Clinical Solutions, this highly visible role will be the Finance single point of contact for the program. Key responsibilities will include financially validating the technologies, the investment, sources of savings and timelines. This will include:

1. Establishing the plan, cost build up, savings, phasing & forecast

2. Tracking to plan, identifying risks, partnering to help with staging and optionality to keep the program on plan

3. Benefits realisation, both in the business when new Tech is adopted, and in Tech when old technology is decommissioned

Basic qualifications:

  • Qualified to degree level. Must hold recognised finance qualification (MBA or ACCA/ACMA preferred – must be qualified)

Preferred qualifications (and must be able to demonstrate):
