Finance Risk Analyst
GSK House, Brentford
3 Month Initial Contract
Pay up to £355 per day


Objective

To support the controls optimisation programme (CO) to improve controls by reducing risk, and/or improving speed of performance through automation, centralisation, and/or re-focus on relevant risk

  • Reporting directly to the business delivery lead who reports to VP finance risk management and controls


Key Responsibilities

  • For each quarter, continually assess key and sox controls and create a pipeline of controls requiring improvement
  • Collect high level information from own assessment/knowledge, control performers, GPOs, compliance champions, data analytics team and other sources on controls requiring improvement to reduce risk and/or improve efficiency
  • Collect data on controls, perform walkthroughs, covering but not limited to:

  1. No. of instances of a control
  2. Volume of data managed in a control
  3. Locations
  4. What part of a control is causing an issue?
  5. What calibre of personnel perform the control?
  6. What is time taken to perform control and time taken to perform any issue flagged?
  7. SOD issues/requirements

  • Compare against criteria for prioritisation (materiality of savings benefit/ risk reduction / audit fee reduction)
  • De-scope those being addressed by GPO programs or align CO leads the development
  • Prioritise controls based on c. above and share with tech and business delivery leads
  • Propose potential solutions on how to simplify control or reduce number of control instances from a business perspective
  • Maintain documentation of the assessments and conclusions
  • Provide support to the project on any questions or clarifications relating to controls and current environment
  • Validate the design of new or updated controls are operable and mitigate the risk by assessing items such as:

  1. Volume of data to be managed by a control
  2. Appropriateness/calibre of personnel performing control
  3. Complexity to run report or other steps for performers

  • Support the FRMC risk manager in their role
  • Support build out of training materials and training sessions on new controls
  • Confirm benefits have been obtained once deployed
  • Support the delivery lead in communications to stakeholders such as prepare steering materials on control data to support delivery leads
